COVID-Together!
Covid-19 is a viral illness affecting the world globally; this also includes the U.S. Lives of many innocent great people are being destroyed. Unfortunately, those of power are not facing this deadly virus from a global prospective in finding a cure, or vaccine. It is not the time for countries to practice animosity or play the blame game, it is time to globally work together, because all of us are suffering.
Covid-19, known as the Coronavirus, is a pandemic. A deadly virus that has impacted the world. This deadly virus has spreaded to every continent, except Antarctica. The effects have been felt in over 206 countries, and yet we are not working together as global partners to create a vaccine, cure for such virus. The U.S. needs to work with all world leaders, to bring together the world’s best and most prominent scientist, researchers, and doctors to find a vaccine/cure. This is not the appropriate time for blame or hostility; this time has to be used to save lives. We are hostile with countries in the Arabian Peninsula, specifically Iran and Iraq. When we examine the Eastern World Book historical literature, review the primary and secondary sources, there was some balance and communication between Iran, Iraq and the U.S. Today, we are on opposite sides of peace. Let’s forget about our disagreements, resolve our differences, and work together to save the lives of the people who are being affected across the world. This virus has impacted America and the world drastically with over 177,168 U.S. deaths within seven months, and over 800,000 deaths globally.
The U.S. is the most powerful country in the world. Let’s take the lead, and work together to eradicate this virus. Such actions should also include working with China. Let’s share the resources other countries can provide to assist in finding a vaccine; provide protective equipment for our front line workers, and citizens. All across this globe, many citizens are doing their part by practicing social distancing, washing their hands, and wearing mask to help protect others as well as themselves. We need our leaders to do their part. Together, we can defeat COVID.
Student Summary
The Eastern Mediterranean has impacted America in many ways, such as their culture. Due to people migrating, there’s a percentage of people who originate from the Eastern Mediterranean that live in America. Due to their movement to America, they’ve established many of their cultural rituals. For many people to see, and people may take interest in.
In the Eastern Mediterranean there are many cultural rituals, such as in Turkey! Some of Turkeys cultural food has made its way to America, such as Kababs. Kababs now a days are eaten and favored by people worldwide. Nevertheless, Israel also has a part to share in its culture and its connection to America. Many people in Israel are Jewish, and they are very passionate about celebrating holidays. Some Jewish holidays include Yom Kippur, and the Passover. These holidays include traditions such as strict diets (Kosher). Also having a certain time and place for said holidays to dressings a certain way. All these cultural traits can be found in America today! Through people’s ancestry, or family tradition. The Eastern Mediterranean has impacted America through their culture in many ways.
In conclusion, the Eastern Mediterranean has impacted America through the cultural traditions that are held there. Such as certain holidays, to clothing, to even foods!! The Eastern Mediterranean has influenced many Americans and people around the globe. But unfortunately people tend to discriminate people for what they believe in or what they even eat!! How I would like to end this type of discrimination is to make people open up their eyes more, whether online, or putting up posters outside. Yes, I understand it isn’t something that’s really big and needs to be done now, but it would lessen the hate that people have amongst each other. We have to take baby steps and take it slow in order for results to show up. We all want to be accepted that’s the beauty of equality and respect. by: Joelle Khoshaba
COVID and Ramadan
The holy month of Ramadan is important to Muslims worldwide. Ramadan is when Muslim people fast all day and finally break their fast when the sun sets until it rises again. It is a requirement for Muslims to fast during Ramadan according to the Quran. The Quran is the holy book of Islam just like the Bible and the Torah is important to Christians and Jews. The prophet Mohamed taught his people during Ramadan and any other day to pray 5 times a day. That is due to the five pillars of Islam. According to Islam, Mohamed is God’s prophet and he taught his people the word of God through the Quran.
Ramadan can be considered a hard month for people. Not eating all day affects millions of people who have to go through it. Especially in our day now, since we have a pandemic going on, it has created a hardship for Muslims all over the nation. According to USA TODAY article “ Muslim hearts ache as coronavirus keeps us apart during Ramadan”, Muslims are having a hard time not being able to go to the masjid 5 times a day to pray. They are also facing a hard time not having sahoor with family and friends due to social distancing.
In conclusion, a lot of people, Muslim or not, are having a hard time during these times. Religious aspects and holidays are being changed because of COVID and people are heartbroken over not seeing family and going to their places of worship to pray. This is relating to chapter 7 section 2. It talked about Islam and everything that comes along with it. by: Yousif Dawood
How Population Effects Lives: Past & Present
You may have heard that the population has been growing a lot over the years, but have you ever wondered how it compares to the past? Our population on earth has come to be so large that we need to find solutions to fix this situation. It’s amazing to think how many people are on this earth today, compared to thousands of years ago. At around 1845, more and more immigrants came to the United States. The migration rate went down during about 1855 but still never stopped. My family legally immigrated back in the early 1900’s from Europe. Although I am glad to be here, I feel that population density has impacted our health, in addition to other areas in today’s society.
The population was going up tremendously until this unknown virus called covid-19 came around and started a pandemic killing thousands, if not tens of thousands, of people all across the world and still is. The virus is impacting the overpopulated areas where there are more people living and has less impact on the lower populated areas. This huge population issue needs to be addressed before we lose any more people to this virus. “You could spread covid-19 to others even if you do not feel sick”, says cdc.gov. If everyone would stay at home unless necessary to go out this virus could have been gone already and thousands of people’s lives would have been saved.
The President also needs to make sure that Governors of each state are able to take care of the people. And the Governors that have these areas of high population need to make sure that the services and goods in these areas are enough to take care of all the people. Where there is over population in an area, there was not enough police to make sure people stayed distanced, not enough hospitals beds or equipment to take care of the people, and not enough resources to provide for the people which caused panic and not “common sense” solutions. by: Kaitlyn Murto
Christianity and its Impact
Christianity has affected many people’s daily lives. The teachings of Jesus, God’s son has a big impact in the lives of people in history and the present. Jesus was the Messiah which means that he is the savior that has come down to save us. He had 12 followers called the disciples, he taught them everything about God and Christianity. The disciples spread Jesus’s teachings after he died on to new countries and to new people. From there people from all over the world followed Jesus’s teachings.
The effect that the Bible has on the world and Christians is amazing. Many people follow the Bible. The Bible is an important book in Christianity, it tells us what God and Jesus wants us to know about our religion. The Bible has 2 parts, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament teaches us about different prophets and what they did to help spread the word of God. The New Testament teaches us about Jesus’s life. The prophets in the Old Testament impacted our religion a lot. Without them not many people will believe in God because the prophets wouldn’t have spread the word of God. Jesus’s message was to love one another and God. Even if you aren’t a Christian you follow this message as this is a basic theme in society and many other religions.
In conclusion, Christianity has impacted many people since the beginning of time. Prophets, Jesus, the Bible and the disciples have spread the word of God and have impacted many people’s lives. Because of these amazing people, Christianity is the most followed religion with 2.3 billion followers. by: Christina Jiddou
Christianity and Islam
Christianity and Islam are both interesting religions to learn about. They both have differences and similarities. Some differences can be where and when they originated. Another one can be how Islam have a Quran and Christians have a Bible and the practices and beliefs of the two religions. Some similarities are how they both come from the middle east and how they both believe in God.
According to the Eastern World Book social studies book, the two religions orginated in the middle east. The Islam spread throughout Arabia in the 600s while Christianity spread throughout the roman empire in the year 400. Both religions have a book important to them. Christianity has a Bible, and Islam’s have a Quran. The Quran teaches Muslims that there is only one God. They must follow his commands. There was one prophet named Muhammad who taught them the word of God. While the Bible has two parts the Old and New testament. The Old Testament is largely the same as the Hebrew Bible and about how Jesus the messiah, and his 12 disciples spread the word of God. The New Testament is about the life and teachings of Jesus and the early history of Christianity.
All being said, these two religions have made a big impact on America and the world. It has made these practices and teachings spread all around the world. Today, we have Christian churches and different type of Christians all around the world. Also, according to the web, there are approcimately 2.3 billion Christians and 1.9 billion Islam followers. Religions are strong faiths followed by many.
